STATEMENT

Cycle of Cities III: Rebirth is a series of cliche-verre. French for glass negative, cliche-verre is a photo-painting hybrid process historically used during times of change, which serves as a bridge between the past and future. I paint in negative on glass plates, then scan, enlarge, and print photographically.

This series focuses on connections between patterns on both large and small scales. Similarly to how artificial intelligence makes correlations between similar data, I compare similarities in patterns through time and space. In addition to locations throughout Paris, the City of Light, I also incorporate art historical and contemporary references in this series. This work draws on representations and developments of global influences, recreates and compares cycles and connects environments and ideas.
